Mary Ann Melkonian coaches color guard, primarily at Stonewall Independent. Her main role is as their dance instructor and choreographer but she helps out with a bit of everything. The color guard has had a lot of success in winter as part of Winter Guard International (WGI). In 2013 Stonewall Independent received the silver medal at world championships in their class (Independent A) and Stonewall Gold won their circuit in their class. Then in 2014 we fielded THREE guards! The high school group won in Regional A1 within the Atlantic Indoor Association circuit. Stonewall Independent 2 came in 20th at WGI World Championships in their class (Independent A). Stonewall Independent was promoted to Independent Open class for the year, making finals their first year in the higher class, placing 14th in the world. In 2015 Stonewall Independent had continued success, placing 9th in Independent Open.
For her "day job," Mary Ann has worked for the last 11 years within human capital and coaching (both career and leadership). She works with clients to develop solutions to their people related concerns, encompassing everything from human capital strategy, to workforce planning and competency modeling, to recruiting and talent management, to retention and leadership development.
Mary Ann has worked with organizations across industries including the U.S. Government, financial institutions, automotive companies, retailers, and consulting firms. She works with leaders and individuals in career transitions to uncover their true self and bring that self into their work. She is a certified Leadership Coach through Philosophy IB and George Mason University, and is working towards her ACC from the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She is also certified in the Next Level 360 Leadership Assessment by Scott Eblin.
